One of the best things you can do for your dog is make sure he or she is protected against common canine diseases. Your puppy was given immunity to disease by its mother for the first few weeks of his or her life through the milk she supplied. Once your puppy no longer gets milk from the mother, it’s up to you. Contact 9 Tel Animal Hospital for advice and assistance.
How Do Dog Vaccines Work?
Vaccines are composed of small quantities of altered or “killed” viruses, bacteria, or other disease-causing organisms. When your dog is given a vaccine, it stimulates your dog’s immune system into creating disease-fighting cells and proteins that protect against disease.
When Should My Dog Be Vaccinated?
The immunity your puppy has at birth starts to disappear between six and twelve weeks. Once this period is up, it's time to begin the first round of vaccinations, which is repeated once per month until your pup is about three or four months old. After this time period, your dog will receive repeat vaccinations at regular intervals for the rest of its life. If your dog has waited too long in between vaccines, they may have to start the series all over again.
Which Vaccinations Should My Dog Receive?
We recommend that your dog be vaccinated against most common highly contagious diseases and those that cause serious illnesses. These diseases include infectious canine hepatitis, canine distemper, canine tracheobronchitis, and rabies. Other vaccinations are suggested based on the specific risks to your dog.

How Effective Are Vaccinations?
As with any drug treatment or procedure, vaccinations are not 100% guaranteed. When they are used along with proper nutrition and sanitary conditions, your pet has the best defense against the diseases.

We love this vet. Our dog was diagnosed with Cushing's disease, and our vet at that time was charging a ton of money and requiring so many appointments. 9 Tel was able to treat our dog with fewer appointments and their pricing is reasonable.

When Should My Cat Get Vaccinated?

Thereafter, your cat will receive repeat vaccinations based on a schedule that 9 Tel Animal Hospital can determine.
